Xbox Ambassadors Extra Life: stream schedule and hosts

It’s that time of year again: Extra Life – when gamers unite to raise money for a cause, showing off their skills and generally fostering a good time for all. This year, the Redmond Ambassadors Team will be joining the fold with some help from the Xbox Elite Tweet Fleet, the Xbox Support Forums Team and you, our community members!

The Xbox Ambassadors Extra Life stream will take place from 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, and while there’s still some time between now and then, you’re welcome to ready yourself for those 25 hours by checking out our Extra Life page and joining our team! Donations in support of the Xbox Ambassadors Team will go toward Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and we’d like to put as much as we can toward that cause. With that goal in mind, Misses Sunny and Mister Discord – the pioneers of our debut for Extra Life – have put together a schedule that promises laughs, drama and some pretty stellar raffles.

And me? Well, I’m here to break the news and give you a sneak peek of that same schedule so you can decide when to sleep, when not to sleep or if sleep is just out of the question for the stream. (Really, though, we would suggest sleeping and eating as necessary). Read on for a full view of the times (listed in PDT), hosts and giveaways that we hope will make this stream one for the books

Xbox Ambassadors Extra Life Schedule

Time | 7 – 11 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4

Hosts | Jen and Ben of @XboxSupport

Raffle | 1 Dusk Shadow Controller

@XboxSupport’s very own Jen (^JP) and Ben (^BB) might have rhyming names, but their biggest similarity is the fact that they’ve both got big personalities. You can expect more than a handful of jokes and possibly some playful tension as these two work their way through what can only be described as the odd mix of Rayman Legends and NBA 2k17.

In the meantime, here’s what Jen had to say about her part in the Extra Life stream:  “I’m looking forward to the charity stream, because I love knowing that we’re taking time as a team to raise money for people less fortunate than us. It will be great to see all of us come together in a less formal setting to have fun with one another for a good cause.”

Time |
11 p.m. – 3 a.m., spanning Nov. 4 & Nov. 5

Hosts | Sean and Chris of the Xbox Support Forums

Raffle 1 Spartan Controller

You might have noticed that Chris and Sean have matching sweaters. Well, they also have matching appetites for punishment, and that’s sort of the theme of this segment. Tune in starting at 11 p.m. on Nov. 4 to watch these two Forums Misters drag their way through Dark Souls and Diablo III, all while dragging their stomachs through a “Hot Pepper Challenge” that’s been the talk of the office for weeks now.

Want to really get inside the minds of these two madmen? Thankfully they prepared a statement regarding their appearance on the Xbox Ambassadors Extra Life stream: “This Extra Life is about to get Extra Spicy. We’re pumped up and ready to help others through our addiction to video games. It’s not every day you get to play video games for the benefit of others, especially if you’re playing one of the most frustratingly difficult games on the Xbox One. Is it getting hot in here or is it just us?”

Time | 3 – 7 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5

Hosts | Malik of the Xbox Ambassadors Team & Nico of @XboxSupport

Raffle | 1 Master Chief Controller

Malik and Nico are pretty playful folks – in fact, you’ve probably seen them in an Xbox Ambassadors YouTube or @XboxSupport video or two – but they’re not playing around this Extra Life. Their four hour segment features heavy hitters like Halo 5, Battlefield 1 and Gears of War 4, which will require they work together or, you know, not.

Now over to Malik for why he’s so excited to brandish the coveted role of Xbox Ambassadors Extra Life stream host: “Xbox Live is one of the strongest, most tight-knit communities on the internet. The passion of gamers is unrivaled and the ability to channel this fandom into something good and charitable is an amazing opportunity and I’m honored to be a part of it.”

Time | 7 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5

Hosts | Tristan and Francis of @XboxSupport

Raffle | 1 Forza Motorsport 6 Controller

Francis and Tristan are coming at you with a mixed menu of games – from retro to fighters – and they’re not only interested in playing games for our Extra Life viewers, they want to play games with our Extra Life viewers. So if you’ve got a copy of Tekken Tag Tournament or Soul Calibur II HD, then you might want to start practicing; otherwise, tune in for Mega Man 2 & 3 or Volgarr the Viking.

Now let’s hear some words from these two early risers:

“Since I started playing video games back when I was young, they’ve evolved. Not just graphically, but on what they mean to me. I’ve explored many worlds, met fascinating characters and have experienced unforgettable stories! Video games have sparked creativity in the hearts and minds of many but above all else, are fun. Being able to use my passion of gaming for a great cause like this is nothing short of amazing!” – Tristan

“Due to my competitive nature, I’m stoked to play with and against other gamers from the Xbox community for the Extra Life stream. Seeing other gamers get motivated for a wonderfully positive cause is heartwarming. And if I can be a small catalyst for that motivation, I’ll feel like I’ve accomplished something.” – Francis

Time | 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5

Hosts | Shannon and Jeff of the Xbox Support Forums

Raffle | 1 Elite Controller

Do you like food challenges? If that’s the case, you won’t want to miss Shannon and Jeff’s portion of the stream! They’ll be donning their chef hats and aprons at 11 a.m. to play Overcooked and Minecraft while eating random food provided by a few rotating special guests. We don’t have an exact idea of the menu just yet, but hey, neither do they; we can, at least, promise that it will either be nasty or delicious and always, always a complete surprise for our hosts!

Time | 3 – 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5

Hosts |  Ishmael and Terrance of @XboxSupport

Raffle | 1 Elite Controller

If you had any doubt that Ishmael and Terrance, both of @XboxSupport, were for real gamers, then prepare to have that notion dispelled. These two aren’t just playing one or two games for the Extra Life stream – no, they’ve selected four games, including Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time, Rocket League and Super Dungeon Bros. Some might call them indecisive, but we’re going with committed.

Don’t take my word for it, though. Here’s something from Terrance and Ishmael on their commitment to the Extra Life cause:

“Obviously the biggest aspect for participating is helping raise money for The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Outside of that, getting a chance to interact with the Ambassadors community for the first time.” – Terrance

“I am excited to be a part of this stream mostly because I enjoy having the opportunity to help others. Another big reason is to be able to engage with the Xbox community in a different way than my usual day-to-day engagements. I’m pumped to allow the community to see my passion for gaming.” – Ishmael

Time | 7 – 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5

Hosts | Ryan and Brady of the Xbox Ambassadors Team

Raffle | To Be Announced (But you’re probably going to want it!)

Mister Discord and Mister Teal will, of course, be closing out the stream with a round of Jackbox Games – it’s only been 25 hours of streaming, after all, so we were pretty sure our audience would be interested in some interaction. Discord and Teal will also have the pleasure of announcing the winner of our last raffle, and while I know what the prize is, I’m afraid, dear Ambassadors, that I’ve been sworn to secrecy for now.

So, as you can see, we’re packing a lot into these 25 hours! But if you’re worried you’re not seeing enough faces, then worry not. Misses Sunny and I might make a quick appearance or two, and oh hey! Did we mention some of your fellow Ambassadors will be guest starring?

That’s right, we’ve got a few Ambassadors well-known within our community who will be popping in to liven things up a bit. Here’s who, and here’s what they’ve shared about their involvement:

  • NorthernZoot – “Gaming with Xbox Live has given me once-in-a-lifetime experiences and forged amazing friendships that I will cherish always. Extra Life grants me the opportunity to offer someone else a chance to do the same. Game On!”
  • Kiesey – “What I love most about participating in Extra Life is the opportunity to help sick children get better and get back to being kids. I have been raising money for four years for Extra Life, and I plan on continuing to do so for many years to come.”
  • F5 Penguin – “I am passionate about being part of the bigger picture that is to help raise money for children in hospitals near and far. We are fortunate enough to be able to provide entertaining content to the community, and to be able to donate funds to the kids provides a far greater good.”
  • Air Head DLX – “Most of the year gaming is ‘me time.’ A time for me to escape the world. Extra Life gives me a chance each year to give back to the community in a fun way, and help others get their ‘me time!”
  • Scrtch – “I became involved with Extra Life in 2011 after learning that the hospital in my area that treated my late older brother was a CMN hospital. My brother passed away at 25 days old and his only hope was the services provided by the NICU. I play each year in honor of him to raise money and work closely with the CMN Director there to raise awareness for the hospital.”
